Choose an image that supports the page

A real project image beside an explanation of the work gives more context than an unrelated decorative picture. Keep your own work identifiable and do not attribute another company’s redesign to your agency.

Give files and alt text a clear job

Use a short descriptive filename, such as accountstree-website-project.webp. Alt text should communicate what the image shows in this context. Decorative graphics can use an empty alt attribute; informative portfolio images deserve useful text.

Add captions and nearby explanation

A caption can identify the project and the service provided. The surrounding page should explain the work in ordinary language. Avoid repeating the same keyword phrase in the filename, heading, caption and every sentence.

Keep images accessible and efficient

Use crawlable image URLs, correct content types and a responsive layout. Set width and height to reserve space. Compress photographs and artwork without making text unreadable. Lazy-load below-the-fold images, while keeping key page imagery readily available.

Check discovery after publication

An image sitemap can help Google discover assets. Robots rules and server headers should allow the intended public images. Discovery and good descriptions do not guarantee image rankings; assess the actual indexed pages and image results after launch.
