Make an inventory before deleting anything

List existing pages, important images and the customer actions they support. If Search Console or analytics are available, review which URLs attract relevant traffic and inquiries. Do not assume a page is unimportant because it looks old.

Map old URLs to the new structure

Keep a useful URL where possible. If a path changes, plan a permanent redirect to a genuinely relevant replacement. Sending every old URL to the homepage can confuse visitors and does not preserve the purpose of the old content.

Improve content rather than simply shortening it

Keep information that helps customers choose and contact you. Remove duplication and outdated claims. Make service descriptions and questions easier to read, with each page serving a distinct purpose.

Review images and ownership

Reuse authentic supplied artwork where it still represents the work. Check permissions and avoid showing an unrelated current redesign as your own. Keep useful alt text and captions attached to the new page.

Check the production launch

Review redirects, canonical links, sitemap URLs and indexability on the real domain. Monitor missing-page reports and important inquiry journeys after launch. A redesign should include a handover plan for those checks.
